Numbers awards conferred on Ligaya Fernando-Amilbangsa attest to her valuable contribution to dance research in the Philippines. As a tribute to her accomplishments, her alma mater, the Far Easten University, presented her with the Green and Gold Artist Award (for dance) on the centennial of the university's founder in 1994. In the same year, during the 423rd founding anniversary of Manila, the city name her Special Awardee for Dance Research. A similar award was conferred on her by the Francisca Reyes Aquino Memorial Foundaiton in March 1999, on the occasion of the birth centennial of Kikay Aquino, the country's first National Artst in Dance.
